About the Role
The National Treasury is looking for a Data Analyst based in Pretoria to contribute to essential data-driven research projects. This role plays a crucial part in supporting various divisions within the National Treasury as well as collaborating with other government departments. By producing comprehensive briefing notes and memos for key officials, including the Minister and Deputy Minister, the Data Analyst will help shape policy and ensure informed decision-making that directly impacts the South African public.

What You’ll Do
- Support data-driven research projects in collaboration with various National Treasury divisions and other government entities.
- Produce briefing notes and memos for high-ranking officials, including the Minister and Deputy Minister.
- Conduct initial quality checks on new administrative datasets to identify and rectify anomalies.
- Assist in establishing data quality standards and protocols for new datasets.
- Engage in policy-relevant research using administrative data to generate insightful reports and presentations.
- Represent National Treasury in inter-governmental forums and committees focused on administrative data and research.
- Participate in events such as workshops and seminars to disseminate research findings to stakeholders.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12, coupled with a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Economics, Econometrics, or Statistics.
- At least 2 years of experience in an economic, data analysis, or research environment.
- Familiarity with the latest trends in research methodologies and tools.
- Experience in interpreting research outcomes effectively.
- Proficiency in STATA and R software packages.
