What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate the transformation of performing and visual arts to foster socio-economic development.
  • Develop and promote community-based arts, culture, and heritage programs.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance cultural initiatives.
  • Manage youth development programs and projects aimed at nurturing young talent.
  • Promote socio-cultural development for vulnerable groups to ensure inclusivity.
  • Identify high-impact areas for job creation and skills development within the arts sector.
  • Design awareness campaigns to highlight arts and culture programs.
  • Conduct research to support the implementation of effective arts initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate funded projects and programs, ensuring accountability.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for various arts and culture initiatives.

What You’ll Need

  • A Senior Certificate plus a three-year tertiary qualification in Fine Arts, Creative Industries, Heritage, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • No prior experience is required, but relevant experience is advantageous.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clear criminal record.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in computer literacy (MS Office suite).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and report writing skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Research skills and a disciplined approach to project management.
  • Presentation skills to effectively share program insights and updates.

Requirements

A Senior Certificate plus a three-year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6/7) in Fine Arts / Creative Industries / Heritage / Performing Arts / Visual Arts or related qualification as recognized by SAQA.

No experience is required.

Job Duties

Facilitate transformation of performing and visual arts to impact on socio- economic development.

Promote and develop community/public based arts, culture and heritage programmes.

Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

Manage the implementation of youth development programmes and projects.

Promote socio-cultural development of vulnerable groups.

Identify and support the development of high impact job creation areas and skills development in arts, culture and heritage sector.

Promote the culture of reading and writing, SA craft, music sector and technical service industries and multimedia (audio-visual, design, visuals arts) sector.

Design and conduct awareness campaigns to promote arts and culture programmes.

Liaise with all relevant stakeholders.

Conduct research on arts and culture programmes.

Promote usage of Arts Centre’s and integrated crafts hubs.

Promote and develop community/public based arts and culture programmes.

Coordinate the establishment and provide support to arts and culture structure.

Implement policies and strategies for arts, culture and heritage sector.

Provide advice to all relevant stakeholders on arts and culture matters.

Coordinate and ensure provision of coaching, discipline and mentoring of staff to improve performance.

Supervise the performance of staff and ensure assessment of their performance.

Consolidate budget in the sub – directorate.

Monitor the budget and expenditure.

Manage the compilation of various reports and statistics.

Supervise leaves in the sub - directorate.
