What You’ll Do
- Provide preventative and developmental counselling services to individuals and groups
- Conduct basic psychological screenings to assess overall functioning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral teams for holistic support
- Engage in psycho-education and mental health promotion activities
- Write reports and provide feedback on client interventions to supervisors
- Supervise, mentor, and support lay health workers in the community
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and team meetings
- Contribute to district mental health teams and initiatives
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Registered Counsellor
- Registration with the HPCSA as a registered counsellor
- For Grade 2: Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience post-registration
- For Grade 3: Minimum of 16 years’ relevant experience post-registration
- Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Knowledge of counselling practices, psychometric assessments, and mental health challenges
- Strong skills in strategic thinking, policy interpretation, and teamwork
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to thrive in a diverse and high-pressure environment
