What You’ll Do

  • Manage technical services alongside engineers and technicians to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Evaluate and update existing technical manuals and procedures to incorporate new technologies.
  • Authorize and recommend quality technical designs and specifications for approval.
  • Supervise and manage rehabilitation projects in alignment with best practice guidelines.
  • Conduct condition assessments of infrastructure and maintain updated databases.
  • Produce detailed reports on assessment findings and prioritize rehabilitation projects.
  • Oversee site supervision of construction works and ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Mentor candidate technicians and support their professional development.
  • Assist with strategic planning, financial management, and general office operations within the section.

What You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Civil Engineering recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of six years’ post-qualification experience as an Engineering Technologist/Technician.
  • Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technologist.
  • A valid Code B driver’s license (except for persons with disabilities).
  • Proven experience in infrastructure condition assessment, project management, and site supervision.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and public sector procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software, particularly Autodesk Revit.
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours and travel extensively within the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces.
