What You’ll Do

  • Manage and oversee patient care in a level 2/3 service facility.
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in academic and training programs to enhance team skills.
  • Conduct clinical audits to improve service delivery and patient care.
  • Assist with the management and operational needs of the hospital.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Comply with the Performance Management and Development System.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualifications allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Neurosurgery.
  • Relevant experience as follows: Grade 1: Less than 5 years; Grade 2: 5-10 years; Grade 3: 10 years and more.
  • Sound knowledge of medical ethics and current health policies.
  • Skills in clinical assessments, history taking, and patient management.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring junior staff within the department.
