What You’ll Do

  • Conduct assessments to diagnose psychological disorders in patients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care, ensuring that all patients feel respected and understood.
  • Train and supervise intern clinical psychologists in line with HPCSA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals to enhance patient care.
  • Participate in academic activities, including research and teaching, to support the department’s mission.
  • Engage in outreach programs to strengthen mental health services in the community.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Relevant experience based on the grade level:
  • Grade 1: None required for RSA qualified employees; 1 year for foreign qualified employees.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 8 years for RSA qualified employees; 9 years for foreign qualified employees.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 16 years for RSA qualified employees; 17 years for foreign qualified employees.
  • Willingness to perform after-hour duties, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Competence in assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work ethically in a clinical setting.
