About the Opportunity

Join the City of Johannesburg’s Community Development Department as a Finance Intern and gain hands-on experience that complements your academic studies. This internship offers a unique chance to work within the Finance Branch, located at 66 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, for a period not exceeding 18 months.

Key Responsibilities

As a Finance Intern, you will support the directorate in various financial management activities. Your role will contribute to effective asset management, income and revenue management, accounting, budgeting, supply chain management, capital management, policy compliance, and ensuring clean audit outcomes.

Requirements/Qualifications

– Must reside within the City of Johannesburg
– Grade 12
– Relevant university or post-school qualification
– Enrolment confirmation letter (if applicable)
– Accepted qualifications include BCom in Accounting, National Diploma in Accounting, Internal Audit, Local Government Finance, Public Finance, or N6 Financial Management

Benefits

Interns who have completed their qualifications may earn up to R10,109.86 per month, while those still enrolled can earn R4,951.88 per month. Note that this is a basic salary with no additional benefits.

Who Can Apply?

This programme is aimed at students and graduates from Johannesburg communities who have not previously participated in a relevant internship programme.

Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate financial research skills, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, independent thinking, negotiation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
