About the Role
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a Chief Quantity Surveyor (Grade A) to join its Gqeberha Regional Office. What You’ll Do
- Provide standard quantity surveying services for regional projects.
- Liaise and collaborate with the Directorate: Quantity Surveying Services at head office.
- Standardize quantity surveying processes and provide expert advice to project managers.
- Audit and verify project costs, including norms, variation orders, and final accounts.
- Develop and maintain a building cost database to support project planning and budgeting.
- Visit construction sites to review cash-flow projections and monitor project progress.
- Offer budgetary and administrative support to the quantity surveying team.
- Manage and guide subordinate staff effectively to achieve departmental goals.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant qualifications.
- Six years of post-qualification quantity surveying experience.
- Valid driver’s license and readiness to travel as required.
- Compulsory registration with the SA Council for Quantity Surveyors (SACQSP) as a Professional Quantity Surveyor.
- Extensive knowledge of quantity surveying aspects within the building and construction environment.
- Strong understanding of contract and building law related to quantity surveying.
- Proficiency in financial administration, project management, computer literacy, and budgeting.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, decision-making, and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a solution-oriented approach.
