What You’ll Do
- Oversee the performance of project managers and provide guidance to enhance their skills.
- Manage a variety of construction projects, from large capital undertakings to maintenance tasks.
- Interpret client needs into manageable scopes of work to ensure project success.
- Procure built environment professionals through the correct supply chain management processes.
- Coordinate the activities of various professionals to ensure adherence to project execution plans.
- Facilitate the bidding process for the appointment of contractors, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Ensure that appointed consultants maintain quality standards within their professional scope.
- Process applications for variation orders and extensions of time, making recommendations to the approving authority.
- Handle interim payments in line with government commitments to timely invoice payments.
- Maintain organized project documentation for easy access during audits.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with colleagues across the department.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum Engineering Degree in a Built Environment field or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 6 years of post-qualification experience and registration as a Professional Construction Project Manager (SACPCMP).
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of Programme and Project Management principles.
- Proficient in project design, legal compliance, and operational procedures.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven capability in strategic thinking and leadership.
- Financial management skills and proficiency in computer applications.
- Negotiation skills to effectively manage contractor relationships.
