What You’ll Do
- Lead and direct operations related to Defence Materiel within the Defence mandate.
- Provide strategic direction on the acquisition of defence materiel, establishing norms and standards.
- Facilitate acquisition boards and councils to manage the defence materiel process.
- Oversee technology development to support current and future defence capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with acquisition standards and provide executive advice on Parliamentary and Audit queries.
- Represent the Department at the National Treasury Bid Adjudication Committee for national tender governance.
- Manage the acquisition of technology and resources within the defence sector.
- Guide and develop the Defence Materiel governance and compliance frameworks.
- Coordinate the Department’s involvement in inter-departmental and international Materiel Forums.
- Supervise personnel and financial resources effectively to meet operational goals.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Honours Degree/Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Engineering, Science, or Technology Management recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of proven experience in a Senior Management role, specifically in Acquisition, Engineering, or Technology Management.
- Completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme prior to appointment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on strategic oversight and compliance.
