What You’ll Do

  • Develop and manage strategic plans for the Chief Directorate to enhance effectiveness in the Primary Minerals Processing sector.
  • Lead the implementation of the Critical Minerals Strategy to support the transition to a green economy.
  • Design policies and procedures that stimulate the growth of the Primary Minerals Processing and Construction industry in South Africa.
  • Conduct research to identify challenges and opportunities within the sector and develop actionable interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Chief Directorate, ensuring compliance with reporting systems and introducing corrective measures when necessary.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local and international stakeholders to promote collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Oversee financial and human resource management for the Chief Directorate, ensuring alignment with operational plans.

What You’ll Need

  • A qualification at NQF level 7 in Science, Engineering, Mineral Economics, Commerce, or a related field, recognized by SAQA.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a senior managerial role focused on the development and implementation of industrial or economic policies within the Primary Minerals Processing and/or Construction sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial Policy, the Critical Minerals Strategy, and the Beneficiation Strategy for the minerals industry.
  • Proven experience in people management, financial oversight, and strategic planning.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively represent the department.
  • Understanding of the PFMA, Public Service Act, and Treasury Regulations.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation, project management, and research analysis for policy and program development.
