What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the strategic direction for Defence International Affairs.
  • Ensure the development and execution of the Defence International Affairs Policy and Strategic Business Plan.
  • Provide specialized management and advice to enhance civil control of defence.
  • Establish priorities for multilateral international agreements and defence diplomacy initiatives.
  • Develop internal control systems for executing Defence International Affairs effectively.
  • Promulgate departmental objectives and performance reports related to Defence International Affairs.
  • Ensure alignment of initiatives with national foreign policy and strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate the approval process for international defence agreements.
  • Manage resources, including human, financial, and physical assets within the Chief Directorate.

What You’ll Need

  • A Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Political/Social/Human-Science/International Relations as recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of 5 years proven experience at a senior managerial level in International Relations or a related field.
  • Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme prior to finalisation of the appointment.
