What You’ll Do
- Provide input in drafting policies and frameworks to support SMMEs and cooperatives.
- Conduct research on best practices in national and international contexts to inform policy development.
- Participate in stakeholder consultations and workshops to gather feedback and provide structured insights.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of policies and frameworks, identifying achievements and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate SMME support interventions within the Department of Agriculture to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
- Engage with various stakeholders to understand their data management needs and facilitate the development of a real-time agricultural SMME data management system.
- Advocate for the development of SMMEs and cooperatives by participating in strategic engagements and disseminating relevant information.
- Support capacity-building initiatives, including training sessions for SMMEs on business plan development and advisory services.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate and a Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business Management, or Financial Management.
- A minimum of two years of experience in an agricultural economics environment, with exposure to the agricultural business landscape.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the BBBEE Act, National Integrated Small Enterprise Development (NISED), and the National Small Business Amendment Act.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, complemented by a high level of integrity and work ethic.
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to work independently and under pressure, with effective planning and execution skills.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively and work extended hours.
