What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement bed management policies, protocols, and procedures within the hospital.
  • Manage and maintain accurate patient information and statistics related to bed management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage patient referrals to other healthcare facilities.
  • Work with medical teams to reduce the length of patient stays in the hospital.
  • Facilitate the effective flow of patients within the institution in collaboration with provincial institutions and districts.
  • Oversee the discharge planning for ambulatory patients, ensuring discharge medications and follow-up appointments are managed effectively.
  • Monitor and manage congestion within emergency units, focusing on improving disposition times.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of a 3-year National Diploma or Degree registrable with an appropriate Health Professional Council.
  • Relevant experience in bed management within a hospital environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable policies, legislation, guidelines, and standards.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
