What You’ll Do
- Provide oversight on risk management, internal controls, and governance practices.
- Advise the Accounting Officer on effective execution of responsibilities.
- Review and evaluate management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Foster trust and confidence in public sector management through effective oversight.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant degree in Accounting, Auditing, Risk, Legal, or Information Technology.
- A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- At least 10 years’ experience in a senior or executive role within relevant fields.
- 5-10 years’ experience serving on Audit or Risk Committees in the public sector.
- Membership in a professional body related to your field is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of PFMA, Modified Cash Standards, GRAP or GAAP.
- Attributes such as integrity, dedication, strong communication skills, inquisitiveness, and independent judgment.

Requirements
Applicants should: Have a relevant degree in Accounting/Auditing/Risk/Legal/ Information Technology.A relevant postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage.
At least 10 years’ experience in a senior / executive role in Accounting /Auditing/ Legal / Information Technology / Risk and Compliance environments.
At least 5-10 years’ experience of serving in Audit Committees or Risk Committees in the Public Sector.
Membership of a professional body in the respective fields will be an added advantage.
Knowledge: PFMA, Modified Cash Standards, GRAP or GAAP.
Attributes: Integrity, dedication, understanding public sector business and controls, good communication skills, inquisitiveness and independent judgment.
Job Duties
Execute oversight responsibilities regarding risk management, control, governance, information technology, compliance, external and internal audit, management accounts and annual financial statements.Advise the Accounting Officer in the effective execution of his/her responsibilities.
Assist in building trust and confidence in how the Department is managed through effective oversight.
Regulate and discharge all responsibilities as contained chapter 3 of Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA as well as the Audit Committee Charter.
