What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate specialized nursing care and ensure compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Plan and monitor the objectives of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, collaborating with nursing staff.
  • Provide a safe therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and the public.
  • Delegate responsibilities and support staff in delivering patient care.
  • Supervise nursing and support personnel, ensuring effective handovers and record maintenance.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and other departments within the hospital to enhance patient care.
  • Manage human resources, including staff allocation, duty rosters, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor financial resources, including procurement and stock control of medical supplies.
  • Facilitate training, orientation, and professional development initiatives for nursing staff.
  • Uphold ethical standards and engage in continuous professional development activities.

What You’ll Need

  • A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • A post-basic qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Advanced Midwifery with a minimum duration of 1 year, accredited by the SANC.
  • Current registration with the SANC.
  • A minimum of 10 years of nursing experience, with at least 6 years in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • At least 3 years of management experience in nursing.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant nursing care processes, legal frameworks, and health policies.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to coordinate nursing services effectively.
