What You’ll Do

  • Supervise the implementation of risk management strategies, policies, and systems across the Directorate and its Area Offices.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness through communication and training programs.
  • Implement an integrated risk management framework to address all aspects of risk.
  • Manage the resources of the Risk Management Unit effectively.
  • Capture and maintain risk management information on a Risk Register and departmental software.
  • Compile comprehensive risk reports for management.
  • Conduct risk management training sessions and awareness campaigns throughout the Directorate.
  • Facilitate and advise on the risk assessment process.
  • Oversee studies and analyses to identify both internal and external risks.
  • Supervise staff to ensure optimum risk management service delivery.
  • Monitor and review risk response strategies for effectiveness.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 7 in Risk Management, Internal Auditing, Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, or Economics.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience at a supervisory level in Risk Management or Internal Audit.
  • Valid unexpired driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, Public Sector Risk Management Framework, COSO ERM Framework, and King IV Report on corporate governance.
  • Understanding of criminal and commercial law, labor relations, and relevant legislation and policies.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and financial management skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, interviewing, and people management abilities.
  • Proficient in computer literacy and time management.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong planning and organizing capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel regularly as required.
