About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Director: Operational Planning to join its Provincial Office in Mbombela (Nelspruit). This vital role focuses on coordinating the operational planning calendar and developing the Department’s Annual Operational Plans across various programmes and districts. What You’ll Do
- Coordinate the operational planning calendar, templates, and processes for developing and reviewing Annual Operational Plans.
- Facilitate the translation of Strategic Plan commitments into coherent departmental priorities.
- Support integration with resource planning, including assessing human resource implications.
- Monitor and review the implementation of operational plans, identifying bottlenecks that require management action.
- Compile analytical planning and implementation reports for management structures, including committees and oversight forums.
- Maintain planning tools and systems, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data.
- Align departmental health commitments with municipal Integrated Development Plans, translating them into actionable activities.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus a Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in Public Administration, Public Management, Development Studies, Health Management, or Project Management as recognized by SAQA.
- At least three years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
- Knowledge of Public Service Regulations, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and other relevant local government legislation.
- Strong skills in facilitation, coordination, communication, analytical problem-solving, and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A valid driver’s license.
