The Western Cape Department of Health is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Assistant Director: Information Management. This pivotal role is based at the Head Office in Cape Town. What You’ll Do
- Manage and control clinical systems across hospitals and clinics in the Western Cape.
- Oversee the maintenance of documentation, access control, and print management.
- Provide support for the Electronic Health Record and ensure compliance with regulatory changes.
- Liaise with hospital management, IT, and other stakeholders regarding clinical systems.
- Offer end-user support and resolve system issues for clinical applications.
- Update user manuals and clinical system procedures as necessary.
- Manage system changes and oversee testing processes with formal outcome reporting.
- Develop system release notices and ensure user awareness of changes.
- Identify training needs and provide training for users and core trainers.
- Assist with data quality assurance and manage compliance with system logs and reports.
- Drive business process re-engineering in clinical systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with finance and clinical documentation teams to ensure compliance with hospital policies.
- Support the development and administration of new clinical system modules.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma or Degree.
- Relevant experience in health facility administrative and clinical processes.
- Experience in primary health care facility systems.
- Proven experience in training and supporting users on clinical applications.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various health institutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in data capturing and computer literacy, including MS Office and MS Project.
- Knowledge of health information systems within the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness.
- Understanding of business process re-engineering and quality control processes.
