What You’ll Do
- Implement, monitor, and review policies under the National Forest Act.
- Identify alternative mechanisms for forest management and protection.
- Review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and specialist reports related to forest impact.
- Promote compliance and enforcement of the National Forests Act.
- Liaise with legal departments on interpretations of the Act.
- Facilitate the appointment of Forest Officers as Peace Officers.
- Develop and implement capacity-building programs for stakeholders.
- Conduct training courses for various stakeholders, including law enforcement.
- Provide technical advice on issuing licenses for protected trees and forests.
- Maintain a database of license statistics and ensure quality assurance in forestry regions.
What You’ll Need
- National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry, Natural Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in forestry or a related area.
- Thorough knowledge of the National Forest Act and relevant environmental legislation.
- Strong understanding of natural resource regulation and government procedures.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and data interpretation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicts effectively.
- Valid Driving License and willingness to travel.
