What You’ll Do
- Implement, monitor, and enforce policies related to the National Forest Act and National Veld and Forest Fire Act.
- Identify alternative mechanisms for effective forest management, such as guidelines and capacity-building initiatives.
- Review and provide feedback on Environmental Impact Assessments and related documents.
- Promote compliance with forestry legislation and support legal consultations when necessary.
- Facilitate the appointment of Forest Officers and conduct relevant training for stakeholders.
- Manage a database of licensing statistics and evaluate the licensing process for protected trees and forests.
- Provide advisory services to landowners and Fire Protection Associations, ensuring compliance and functionality.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry, Natural Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in Forestry or a related sector.
- Knowledge of the National Forest Act and Environmental Legislation impacting the forestry sector.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in computer applications and data management.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
