What You’ll Do
- Develop and monitor environmental health policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Coordinate hazardous substances management, waste management, and pest control initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the capacity of Environmental Health Practitioners.
- Manage resources effectively and mitigate risks related to health care waste and hazardous substances.
- Establish and convene forums that promote waste reduction and a green economy.
- Monitor waste management practices and utilize health information technology for better service delivery.
- Analyze data and generate reports to support informed decision-making.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health recognized by SAQA.
- Current registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Environmental Health, with at least 3 years in a Chief Environmental Practitioner role.
- Knowledge of policy-making processes and public service regulations, including Batho Pele Principles.
- Strong skills in project and stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication.
- Ability to train and teach staff within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
