What You’ll Do

  • Manage the effective operation of asset management and property management units.
  • Develop and implement acquisition, maintenance, and disposal plans for assets.
  • Oversee asset counts and maintain accurate records in the asset register.
  • Coordinate the physical verification of departmental assets and monitor asset movements.
  • Conduct inspections to identify opportunities for re-utilization and manage maintenance and depreciation of assets.
  • Prepare reports on obsolete, redundant, and damaged assets for appropriate action.
  • Facilitate the implementation of transport services and manage budget allocations related to asset management.
  • Advise line managers on asset management policies and strategic planning for asset disposal and replacement.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management protocols within the asset management unit.
  • Manage human, physical, and financial resources efficiently within the unit.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics Management at NQF level 6.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in a Supply Chain Management environment.
  • Knowledge of the Constitution of South Africa and relevant public service legislative frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury regulations.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work extended hours.
  • Strong skills in project management, client orientation, decision making, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, as well as computer literacy.
