What You’ll Do
- Compile project submissions and oversee project implementation for agricultural initiatives.
- Conduct evaluations within the monitoring and evaluation framework to assess project effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing support to farmers, particularly in land reform and infrastructure development.
- Assist with research and demonstration trials under supervision to improve agricultural practices.
- Offer market information and facilitate workshops to identify farmers’ needs and track progress.
- Write reports detailing technical progress and promote sustainable production systems.
- Facilitate the development of organizational skills within the agricultural sector and provide relevant training.
- Engage with implementing agencies and contribute to project delivery and implementation.
- Uphold the Core Values of the Western Cape Government and practice Batho Pele principles.
- Manage general office administration and ensure effective use of the Agricultural Information Management System (AIMS).
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate 4-year qualification (NQF level 8) in Agriculture or a related field recognized by SAQA.
- Registration with SACNASP or a similar professional body is required.
- A valid code B (or higher) driving license; individuals with disabilities that affect driving but have reasonable transport access may apply.
- Strong knowledge of crop and animal production, markets, and value adding.
- Proven research, communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
- Competence in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Teamwork skills and experience in preparing and delivering presentations.
