About the Opportunity

The Western Cape Mobility Department is proud to offer a 12-month full-time bursary for aspiring Traffic Officers. Successful candidates will earn a Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement, with training commencing on June 8, 2026, at the Gene Louw Traffic College in Brackenfell. A monthly stipend of R5,000 is provided to support your studies.

Key Responsibilities

Upon completion of training, you will be responsible for enforcing road traffic laws, promoting road safety, performing traffic control duties, and carrying out administrative functions. You will also be expected to work shifts, including 24/7 operations when necessary.

Requirements/Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must have completed Grade 12 (Matric), possess a valid Code B (manual) driver’s license, be physically fit, and have no criminal record. Candidates must be under 35 years old and have no visible tattoos or body piercings, with exceptions for females with ear piercings.

Additional Requirements

Shortlisted candidates will need to provide a medical certificate and undergo various assessments, including medical, psychological, drug, physical fitness, driving, and written evaluations, followed by an interview process.

Post-training, candidates may be placed at various traffic centers across the Western Cape, including Worcester, Laingsburg, Beaufort West, Oudtshoorn, Brackenfell, Somerset West, Vredendal, Vredenburg, Caledon, Swellendam, Mossel Bay, George, and Knysna.
