About the Role

The Department of Employment and Labour is looking to fill two positions for Team Leader, based in Pietermaritzburg and Dundee. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with various labour laws that protect the rights of workers throughout South Africa. As a Team Leader, you will be at the forefront of labour inspections, investigations, and advocacy campaigns, positively impacting our communities in KwaZulu-Natal. In this role, you will lead the charge in conducting thorough inspections and investigations to uphold the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and several other critical pieces of legislation. What You’ll Do

• Plan and independently conduct inspections to ensure compliance with labour legislation.
• Execute investigations into reported violations of labour laws, preparing for court appearances as a state witness.
• Conduct proactive inspections to monitor compliance, compiling and consolidating reports from these activities.
• Develop and implement advocacy campaigns on labour legislation, analysing their impact and reporting outcomes.
• Manage case files and investigations, contributing to higher-level planning and regional inspection strategies.

What You’ll Need

• Matriculation/Grade 12 qualification.
• A three-year tertiary qualification in Labour Relations or LLB.
• At least two years of functional experience in Inspection and Enforcement Services.
• A valid motor vehicle driving license.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant labour legislation and departmental policies.
• Strong skills in facilitation, planning, organizing, and interpersonal communication.
