What You’ll Do

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, pack, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and washer disinfectors, according to established procedures.
  • Ensure correct labeling, storage, and distribution of sterile items while maintaining accurate sterilization records.
  • Manage the receiving, sorting, and distribution of linen and maintain stock control.
  • Process and ensure the quality control of clean linen.
  • Uphold cleanliness standards within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Prevention policies.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum educational qualification: GETC/Grade 9 (Std 7).
  • Relevant experience in a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within a hospital setting.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Knowledge of decontamination, cleaning, packing, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Commitment to the Batho Pele Principles.
