What You’ll Do

  • Study and guide investigations in case dockets effectively.
  • Decide on the institution of and conduct criminal proceedings.
  • Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other related court documents.
  • Represent the State in all courts, ensuring fair legal representation.
  • Prepare cases for court, including acquiring additional evidence as needed.
  • Lead and cross-examine witnesses and address the court during proceedings.
  • Attend to representations and prepare opinions and heads of argument.
  • Argue cases in appropriate courts, including motion applications pertaining to criminal matters.
  • Promote partner integration and community involvement in the criminal justice system.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
  • Right of appearance as outlined in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
  • At least five years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Proven competency in acting independently and professionally.
  • Well-developed skills in legal research and drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedure.
  • Proficiency in prosecution and guiding investigations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
