What You’ll Do
- Study case dockets and gather necessary evidence for criminal proceedings
- Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other essential court documents
- Represent the State in all court appearances, ensuring fair prosecution
- Prepare cases for court, including leading and cross-examining witnesses
- Address the court on matters pertaining to conviction and sentencing
- Handle appeals and reviews, as well as prepare opinions and heads of arguments
- Conduct prosecutions for serious, complex, and organized crime cases
- Engage in community involvement and promote partner integration within the criminal justice system
What You’ll Need
- An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion
- A minimum of five years of post-qualification legal experience
- Right of appearance as outlined in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998
- Strong competencies in legal research, drafting, and knowledge of criminal procedure
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to act independently and with minimum supervision
- A valid driver’s license
