The Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated State Accountant for ECD Expenditure Management based in Capricorn North. What You’ll Do
- Process financial transactions in accordance with ECD legislation and policies.
- Allocate and record expenditure and revenue accurately.
- Monitor financial activities for compliance with approved budgets.
- Assist in preparing annual and medium-term budgets.
- Analyze financial variances and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely payments to ECD centres and manage payment documentation.
- Compile management reports for strategic decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records for audit purposes and handle audit queries effectively.
- Attend National, Provincial, and District meetings, contributing to discussions on financial management.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 6 qualification as recognized by SAQA; a qualification in Finance or Accounting is advantageous.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in Early Childhood Development or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license (with exceptions for people with disabilities).
- Sound knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and accountability.
