What You’ll Do

  • Conduct in-depth legal research, including comparative analysis for legislative development.
  • Manage the drafting and certification of bills to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on primary, secondary, and subordinate legislation.
  • Facilitate capacity-building initiatives and mentorship programs for client departments.
  • Oversee translation services for legislation to ensure accessibility and understanding.
  • Manage legislative processes effectively, ensuring timelines and standards are met.
  • Mentor junior colleagues in legal research and the drafting of legislation.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF level 7 legal qualification/LLB as recognised by SAQA.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant post-qualification litigation/advisory experience.
  • Admittance as an Attorney or Advocate in South Africa.
  • Extensive knowledge of Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and the Criminal Justice System.
  • Familiarity with the Public Service Legislative and Governance Framework.
  • Proven experience in drafting legislation and bills.
  • Knowledge of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and Public Finance Management.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Strong skills in legal research, dispute resolution, and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Leadership abilities and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
