What You’ll Do

  • Study and analyze case dockets to prepare for prosecution
  • Conduct criminal proceedings and represent the State in court
  • Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other necessary legal documents
  • Prepare cases for court, acquiring additional evidence as needed
  • Present the State’s case in court, including leading and cross-examining witnesses
  • Attend to representations and prepare legal opinions and arguments
  • Mentor and coach junior staff, ensuring quality and compliance with standards
  • Participate in performance assessments of staff being mentored

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB or appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of post-qualification legal experience in civil and/or criminal litigation
  • Demonstrated competency in acting independently, professionally, and accountably
  • Right of appearance as outlined in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998
  • Five (5) years’ experience in legal practice is advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Decision-making abilities and proficiency in MS Office applications
  • A valid driver’s license
