What You’ll Do

  • Study case dockets and decide on the institution of criminal proceedings.
  • Conduct prosecutions for serious, complex, and organized commercial crimes, as well as corruption matters.
  • Prepare cases for court, including the acquisition of additional evidence and drafting of charge sheets and other court documents.
  • Present the state’s case in court, including the examination and cross-examination of witnesses, and addressing the court on conviction and sentence.
  • Manage court and case flow management independently.
  • Handle appeals and reviews, providing legal advice to the police on investigations of serious crimes.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
  • A minimum of eight years’ post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
  • Proven competency in acting independently, professionally, and with accountability.
  • Right of appearance as per section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
  • Extensive experience in prosecuting common law offences such as fraud, theft, and commercial crimes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, alongside legal research and drafting expertise.
  • A valid driver’s license and general proficiency in MS Office programs.
