What You’ll Do

  • Study case dockets and determine the institution of prosecution for various cases.
  • Conduct criminal proceedings and represent the State in all courts.
  • Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other necessary court documents.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members, ensuring quality in their work.
  • Participate in the performance assessments of the staff you mentor.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
  • At least eight years of post-qualification legal experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
  • Five years of experience in legal practice is considered an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable competency in acting independently and with professionalism.
  • Right of appearance as specified in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
  • Proficiency in prosecuting and presenting cases in court.
  • Experience guiding criminal investigations and instructing on law and statutory offences.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
