About the Role

The Department of Planning is looking for a Senior Specialist: Planning Alignment based in Pretoria. This role is vital to ensuring that institutional plans align seamlessly with government frameworks and priorities for national departments and Schedule 3A public entities. By overseeing the assessment and coordination of strategic, annual performance, operational, and implementation plans, you play an essential role in enabling effective governance and accountability within our public service. What You’ll Do

• Oversee the alignment of institutional plans with governmental frameworks and priorities.
• Coordinate and facilitate the development of strategic and operational plans for national departments and Schedule 3A public entities.
• Ensure effective quarterly performance reporting for non-financial metrics.
• Develop oversight frameworks and strategies to enhance institutional planning.
• Manage stakeholder engagement processes to promote cohesive national planning efforts.
• Provide professional management and leadership in core functions within the Directorate.
• Support cross-functional collaboration within the department to achieve strategic objectives.

What You’ll Need

• A relevant NQF level 7 qualification in Social Science, Economics, Development Studies, Public Administration, or Management.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic or public sector planning, with at least 5 years in a middle or senior managerial role.
• An NQF level 8 qualification or higher is an advantage.
• A valid driver’s license and a good understanding of political and government planning issues.
• Knowledge of government prescripts, policies, and the National Development Plan (NDP).
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
• Strong management skills, including experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and work under pressure.
