About the Role
The National Prosecuting Authority is seeking a Senior Digital Forensic Analyst to join its team in Pretoria, the vibrant capital city of South Africa. In this vital role, you will manage the recovery of evidential data from a variety of electronic devices, including computers, mobile devices, and CCTV systems, ensuring adherence to the Cyber Crime Act and ISO17025 standards. As a Senior Digital Forensic Analyst, you will not only lead investigations but also oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to digital forensics. What You’ll Do
- Manage and recover data from various electronic devices in compliance with legal standards.
- Conduct quality digital forensic examinations as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Develop, maintain, and implement policies, standards, and guidelines related to digital forensics.
- Provide operational leadership and guidance in handling and safekeeping of electronic evidence.
- Plan and implement expert services for digital forensic examinations and research.
- Compile detailed investigation reports and manage the security of forensic tools and evidence.
- Offer expert testimony in court regarding digital evidence and investigations.
- Manage and develop staff to enhance the department’s forensic capabilities.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in policing, law, forensics, computer science, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in criminal and/or forensic investigations, with three years at a junior level.
- Competency in independent and professional conduct, accountability, and credibility.
- Vocational training in specialized criminal investigation courses.
- Certification in digital forensic tools such as Cellebrite, FTK, or Oxygen.
- Experience in court testimony related to criminal matters.
- Strong strategic capability, leadership, and administration skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Constitution of South Africa and the Criminal Procedure Act.
- Familiarity with a wide range of digital devices and software, including database structures.
