About the Role
The Government Pension Administration Agency (GPAA) is seeking a dedicated Senior Administrative Officer: Research & Political to join its team in Umtata, with the potential to work across other locations such as Cape Town, Kimberley, Pietermaritzburg, Bisho, and Polokwane. What You’ll Do
- Coordinate research activities related to the status determination of special pension beneficiaries.
- Develop and implement comprehensive research methodologies to standardize processes.
- Verify and validate information provided by applicants and through research initiatives.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including political structures and civil society organizations, to gather historical information.
- Prepare and manage verification files, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Summarize research findings for adjudication and present reports on qualitative and quantitative data.
- Supervise and allocate tasks to staff, fostering a positive work environment and managing performance.
- Conduct outreach programs in collaboration with Parliamentary Constituency Officers to assist applicants and pensioners.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant 3-year National Diploma/Degree or equivalent with at least 360 credits (NQF 6).
- Minimum of three years’ experience in research and administration of special pensions, including two years in a supervisory role, or five years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer literacy.
- A valid driver’s license is essential.
- Knowledge of the Special Pension Act, Public Finance Management Act, and employee benefits.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Understanding of South African politics and the retirement fund industry.
