The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Radiation Oncology Radiographer (Radiotherapist) to join their team at the EThekwini Oncology Complex, which includes the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and Addington Hospital. What You’ll Do
- Undertake basic radiation planning and treatment preparation, including tumor localization and graphic planning
- Perform brachytherapy planning and treatment procedures
- Collaborate with physicists, oncologists, oncology nurses, and patients to ensure optimal care
- Safely operate and maintain treatment accessories and immobilization devices
- Conduct dosimetry checks prior to treatment delivery
- Maintain accurate records of radiotherapy treatment courses
- Serve as a Health and Safety Representative
- Provide after-hours support and rotate between the Radiotherapy departments of both hospitals as needed
What You’ll Need
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Radiography
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer (Oncology)
- Knowledge of standard radiotherapy techniques, dose protocols, and relevant equipment
- Understanding of quality assurance in radiotherapy and radiation protection
- Ability to evaluate portal images, CT scans, and MRI scans for treatment planning
- Good interpersonal skills and basic supervisory abilities
- Capacity to work effectively in a team and provide quality patient care
