What You’ll Do

  • Provide definitive clinical care in Otorhinolaryngology within the regional hospital service.
  • Manage patient assessments, emergency care, and complex referrals to tertiary facilities.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, offering bedside guidance and procedural assistance.
  • Conduct structured teaching and training sessions for junior doctors and interns.
  • Participate in departmental training programmes and continuing medical education activities.
  • Engage in clinical audits and quality assurance processes to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage clinical data collection and reporting to support health governance and planning.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols for effective service delivery.
  • Uphold strong ethical standards while providing compassionate care and counselling to patients.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology.
  • For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
  • For Grade 2: Minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist.
  • For Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist.
  • Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in technology and computer skills for clinical management.
  • Experience in teaching and conducting research is advantageous.
