About the Role
The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) is seeking a dedicated Provincial Director for its Eastern Cape Provincial Office, located in the vibrant city of East London. This pivotal role is designed for someone who possesses strong leadership and management skills, pivotal in shaping the communication landscape of the province. The Provincial Director will spearhead communication campaigns that align with both the National Communication Strategic Framework and the Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP), ensuring that the voice of the government resonates clearly and effectively with communities across the Eastern Cape.

What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic leadership and management for the GCIS Provincial Directorate.
- Deliver communication campaigns that align with national and provincial frameworks.
- Advocate for the application of government communication norms and standards.
- Develop and maintain communication partnerships with stakeholders in government and civil society.
- Actively participate in communication forums, offering strategic direction on urgent matters.
- Oversee the implementation of risk mitigation plans and manage compliance with communication standards.
- Participate in audit planning processes and manage responses to audit queries.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or Development Communication (NQF Level 7).
- Successful completion of the Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme (Nyukela certificate).
- A valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
- At least five years of experience at a middle or senior management level, with a strong background in development communication.
- Proven leadership capabilities, effective interpersonal skills, and project management experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Eastern Cape’s socio-economic dynamics and government communication framework.
