The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse Grade 1-2 for the Operation Theatre at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Ehlanzeni District and Witbank Hospital in Nkangala District. What You’ll Do
- Provide specialized nursing care in the Operation Theatre, ensuring adherence to legal and professional standards.
- Deliver comprehensive health care services in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Manage resources effectively and efficiently to enhance patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to elevate care standards.
- Supervise nursing staff and ensure implementation of patient care protocols.
- Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control policies.
- Maintain equipment readiness and functionality for patient care.
- Prioritize and coordinate patient management activities as per established protocols.
- Engage in staff development and performance management.
- Report on patient safety incidents and challenges within the unit.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and adhere to Batho-Pele Principles and the Patient’s Right Charter.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 qualification or equivalent.
- Basic nursing qualification accredited with the SANC under Government Notice R425 (Diploma/Degree in General Nursing) or equivalent.
- Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwifery (2026).
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science, with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC under Government Notice R212.
- Grade 1: Minimum of four (4) years appropriate nursing experience post-registration with SANC.
- Grade 2: Minimum of fourteen (14) years appropriate nursing experience post-registration, with at least ten (10) years in Operating Theatre after obtaining post-basic qualification.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to function independently and prioritize work effectively.
- Good supervisory and teaching abilities.
