What You’ll Do
- Provide interpreting services in complex legal matters across various court types including criminal, civil, and labour courts.
- Supervise and support junior and senior interpreters, ensuring high-quality performance and adherence to standards.
- Manage administrative tasks related to interpreter personnel, including scheduling and performance agreements.
- Translate legal documents and exhibits, conducting thorough research to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Develop and maintain a terminology database, creating a glossary register to standardize legal terms.
- Authorize payments for foreign and casual language interpreters while generating necessary reports for management.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma in Legal Interpreting or equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 with 360 credits recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of two years’ practical experience in court interpreting.
- Good communication and listening skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and a customer service orientation.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
- A valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
