What You’ll Do
- Provide interpreting services in high-profile cases across various courts.
- Manage administrative aspects related to court interpreters, including performance agreements and schedules.
- Translate legal documents and exhibits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Supervise and develop junior and senior interpreters, providing coaching and performance assessments.
- Conduct research to enhance the quality of interpreting services and terminology development.
- Authorize payments and manage procurement of foreign language interpreters in line with relevant policies.
- Generate and report statistics related to interpreting services for departmental review.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma in Legal Interpreting or equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 (360 credits recognized by SAQA).
- A minimum of two years’ practical experience in court interpreting.
- Valid driver’s license is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service orientation with planning and organizing capabilities.
