What You’ll Do

• Provide interpreting services for high-profile legal cases and proceedings, ensuring accurate communication.
• Interpret during criminal Labour Court matters and conciliation and arbitration hearings.
• Mentor and supervise junior and senior court interpreters, fostering their professional growth.
• Manage administrative functions for the interpreting team, including scheduling and performance evaluations.
• Translate legal documents and assist in reconstructing court records.
• Develop and maintain a glossary of legal terminology for the judiciary.
• Report statistical information and manage the procurement of foreign language interpreters.
• Ensure efficient operations and address queries related to interpreting services.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma in Legal Interpreting or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 (360 credits).
• At least three years of experience in court interpreting or a Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of ten years of practical experience in the field.
• Two years of supervisory experience is required.
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans and/or IsiXhosa is essential.
• A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.
• Strong communication, time management, and analytical thinking skills.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.
