What You’ll Do
- Provide interpreting services for high-profile legal cases and proceedings, ensuring accurate communication.
- Interpret during criminal Labour Court matters and conciliation and arbitration hearings.
- Mentor and supervise junior and senior court interpreters, fostering their professional growth.
- Manage administrative functions for the interpreting team, including scheduling and performance evaluations.
- Translate legal documents and assist in reconstructing court records.
- Develop and maintain a glossary of legal terminology for the judiciary.
- Report statistical information and manage the procurement of foreign language interpreters.
- Ensure efficient operations and address queries related to interpreting services.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma in Legal Interpreting or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 (360 credits).
- At least three years of experience in court interpreting or a Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of ten years of practical experience in the field.
- Two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans and/or IsiXhosa is essential.
- A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.
- Strong communication, time management, and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.
