What You’ll Do

  • Wheel patients to and from wards, ensuring their comfort and safety
  • Transport patients to various service areas, including operating theatres
  • Collect and transport corpses to the mortuary with dignity and respect
  • Deliver equipment, stores, and documentation to wards and other departments
  • Collect and deliver specimens as needed
  • Assist with offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles
  • Clean stretchers and wheelchairs after use to maintain hygiene standards
  • Report faulty or broken equipment to your supervisor immediately
  • Record and maintain accurate logs of corpses received and released from the mortuary
  • Ensure the safe keeping and cleanliness of hospital equipment

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work shifts and under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of customer care principles
