About the Role
The Department of Employment and Labour is looking for a dedicated Personnel Officer to join their team at the Head Office in Cape Town. This vital position plays a key role in administering compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) claims. As a Personnel Officer, you will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Compensation Commissioner and healthcare providers, to ensure that employees receive the support they need when dealing with workplace injuries. What You’ll Do
- Administer compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases claims.
- Liaise with stakeholders including the Compensation Commissioner and healthcare providers.
- Maintain and update the COIDA database.
- Process COID claims through the Department’s online system.
- Handle telephonic and written inquiries regarding claims and compensation.
- Process various allowances and deductions on the PERSAL system.
- Manage applications for foreign travel and sabbatical leave.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum educational qualification of a Senior Certificate (or equivalent).
- Appropriate experience in COIDA and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- Experience with BAS system transaction processing is essential.
- Knowledge of the Public Service Act and Collective Agreements.
- Strong understanding of the COIDA and its administrative processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage high volumes of work and perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in PERSAL, MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
