What You’ll Do

• Manage all museum functions, ensuring compliance with museological standards
• Supervise and support museum staff in their daily activities
• Oversee the management and administration of museum assets
• Conduct research on collection management and preservation methods
• Plan and organize educational programs and exhibitions
• Engage with communities to promote heritage awareness
• Conduct fieldwork to gather primary data and enhance collections
• Facilitate guided tours, presentations, and special events at the museum
• Collaborate with educational institutions and researchers

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s or Diploma Degree (NQF Level 06/07) in Heritage Management, Museum Studies, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a museum environment
• Valid driver’s license (except for individuals with disabilities)
• Strong knowledge of museum practices and collection management
• Familiarity with National Heritage Act 25 of 1999 and South African Heritage Resource Act
• Excellent research, analytical, and supervisory skills
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication abilities
