What You’ll Do
- Provide a specialist anaesthesia service in a hospital setting.
- Assist in the management of patients with acute and chronic pain in both wards and the Pain Clinic.
- Conduct preoperative assessments of patients in the wards or pre-anaesthetic clinic.
- Provide after-hours anaesthetic consultative services for theatres and units.
- Collaborate with the head of department and clinical unit heads on guidelines, protocols, and clinical audits.
- Engage in departmental teaching programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Participate in academic and clinical administrative activities.
- Maintain high clinical, professional, and ethical standards in service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate (Matric) and an MBCHB or equivalent qualification registered with the HPCSA.
- FCA (SA) or MMEd (Anaes) and current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist.
- For Grade 1: No prior experience is required; registration as a Specialist Anaesthesiologist is essential.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years of experience post-registration is required.
- For Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of experience post-registration is required.
- Strong knowledge and skills in Clinical Anaesthesia, including Emergency, Medical, Surgical Care, and Acute and Chronic Pain management.
- Ability to supervise and teach junior staff and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven management, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
