What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and manage general surgery services at designated hospitals.
  • Execute medical duties with proficiency while supporting institutional aims.
  • Manage patients admitted for surgical interventions in a level 2/3 service facility.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in academic and training programs to foster continuous professional development.
  • Conduct clinical audits and actively engage in quality assurance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hospital management to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Comply with the Performance Management and Development System through regular reviews and assessments.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualifications enabling registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in General Surgery.
  • A valid work permit for non-South African candidates.
  • Sound knowledge of medical ethics and multidisciplinary management.
  • Experience in the respective medical discipline, with varying requirements based on grade level.
  • Competence in clinical assessment, history taking, and patient management.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of current health policies, legislation, and priorities.
