What You’ll Do

  • Provide specialized nephrology care to both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Manage chronic peritoneal dialysis and acute and chronic haemodialysis services.
  • Participate in kidney transplant outpatient services and support the haemodialysis services.
  • Develop procedural skills including kidney biopsies and vascular access procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and nursing professionals.
  • Engage actively in departmental administrative and clinical governance activities.
  • Contribute to academic programs, including teaching and assessments at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine.
  • Partake in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
  • Fulfill after-hours and on-call duties as required by departmental needs.

What You’ll Need

  • An MBChB or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist Physician.
  • For Grade 1: No prior experience is required; for Grade 2: Five years post-registration experience; for Grade 3: Ten years post-registration experience.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in nephrology and internal medicine.
  • Competence in managing acute and chronic dialysis.
  • Interest or experience in interventional nephrology procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and teach medical staff and students.
  • Good leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with clinical governance and quality improvement processes.
